Anatomy and Physiology are interesting, but hard to study subjects. They require a high degree of comprehension and focus, as well as the ability to relate concepts, words, and meaning, to each other. To better study, a student must learn to make use of all the sources available, whether that is text books and classes, CD's, lectures, recordings, online aides, but also, learning to take important anatomy and physiology notes.
Due to the nature of the subjects, taking notes might seem challenging while paying attention to class, and trying to mentally comprehend and relate the material being taught. However, focusing on the most important points will help the student take notes that can be elaborated on later. Outlining a lecture or a class will provide the student with a shell that will be helpful to use later in his study time. It will not only help the student remember some important points, but will prove a great study aide in which to aim study focus. For more information, download this Physiology Course.
Forming study groups is a great way to compare notes and outlines, and clarify any concepts that might not be clear. People process information differently, and focus on different aspects when taking notes of the same lecture or class. By comparing notes with study group members, a nice amount of information is collected and later, it is useful in having the most important points of the lecture.

Flash cards are a great way to study and take notes. By using flashcards to outline or note the most important points of a lecture, students can trade this information and benefit from each other. Flashcards will help you remember important information when studying.
As soon as the lecture is over, and the material is still fresh in the mind, go over the notes and elaborate on them. Most likely short notes have been made, and they will need to be explained in your own words to grasp the concept better.
Notes are perfect to review future test material. Waiting for the last minute to review notes is not recommended. The more notes are read and flashcards are reviewed, the better the concepts will be understood, and a connection will form in the mind.
When studying from tedious and technical textbooks, making notes of each chapter will help understand the material and recall the most important points. Notes or flashcards will work well here. If a lecture was taped, notes of the most important points in the lecture will work well too.
Repetition works wonders to learn and understand material. Repeating flash card or notes content will help you learn the material, and clarify some points in your mind. Setting time every day to review some notes will make it easier to study when it is time to take the test. Forming the habit of reading your notes daily is a great study tool. Study habits will make or break your grades. Some subjects are easier to study than others are. Complexity of material is one issue, but no matter how complex or easy the material or subject is, good study habits and techniques will help in comprehension, and application, as well as obtaining better test results.
It is logical to assume that a quiet environment free of distractions is the best way to approach the study of more difficult subjects. Focusing on one subject at a time also helps. Avoiding distractions that can trigger memories and put the student out of focus is best (avoiding daydreaming). Many times music will trigger this reaction, so the more focused oriented an environment is, the better.
Medical terminology can be cold and to the point, and one of the best things to do while studying is to try to visualize the concept or words into what they truly mean. This will for a picture that will be easier to remember, a link between specialized term and its true meaning.
The same goes with learning a concept. Anatomy and Physiology are full of technical and specific words that the student has to memorize and learn. However, memorizing a word will prove difficult if the overall meaning of what it is, and what it means is not grasped. By learning the function of a word or concept and its relation to other concepts of study, it will be easier to remember, as not only an image has been formed in the student's mind, but also, a relationship between how things work together and what they do. The relationship between concepts and words will make it easier to remember their meaning. Check out this Physiology Course for more information on studying techniques.

Using recordings to help your study is great. If you are recording a lecture or a class, it is important to ask for permission to record. Going back to the lecture when studying, will clarify certain points that were not clear at the moment, and make a connection in the brain, which will make it easier to remember the material.
People learn different. Some people like to write things, others like to hear or read more, while others are visual learners. Find what works best and apply it to the method of study. Sometimes, drawing concepts out and relationships between words will help a student grasp the material much better. It is a matter of finding how one learns better, and apply that to the study routine. Other students will benefit by having a study partner and discuss concepts with him/her for a better understanding. For more information on learning techniques, download this Physiology Course.

We have taken human anatomy and physiology. We also know many professors who have some pretty wicked tests. You might wonder what the best human anatomy and physiology test should consist of. We are here to help you with that.
When it comes to identifying parts of the body, it's harder to do this on paper. There might be some of you who would benefit with your students by doing a lab. This lab might have them dissecting. It might also have them identifying on model skeletons to identify where parts of the body that they have just covered are.
Another thing on the perfect test for human anatomy is when you have vocabulary; it's easier to do a matching section. You give them the words to choose from and they have to match it to the proper meaning. Many students know the meaning, but they blank on the words. If the words are given, then you will know that they know what they mean. You will see much success on the test.
The same is true with what the body does. You give them a question that says which part is associated with doing this or this with the body. When they are given options, they will normally pick the right one.

Some of you want to include some essay. This isn't a bad idea. For things that are more complex and you want to know that they have a nice understanding over how this works is when you really want to use essay questions. This way then you can see how far they read and how much they understand.
The last thing that you should have is some fill in the blanks. There are some things that they should know. These are like statistics and such depending on what they are going into. Using fill in the blanks, they can easily remember numbers which is what we have found so when they need to remember how many bones make up this part of the anatomy region of the body, then they might have a better time remembering the number than anything else. Here is an online course that can help you create a test.
While you want to be sure that you don't make it too easy, as a professor you need to know that they get the information. You also need to know that you aren't making it easy for them to pass the test. These are ways to learn which questions are best worded on tests in this manner so that students can obtain the information and keep it for further use as they move forward in their studies.

Human anatomy and physiology is very important to know about. However, we didn't always have this knowledge. It had to come from somewhere. So, many wonder what the history behind this class is which we are going to help you understand.
It is suggested that the curiosity as to how the body works and the need for learning about it started back in Egypt. This is said that the study of the body began about 1600 BCE. The first part of the body which was really studied back then was the heart. From there, they started looking at the liver, then the spleen, and then the kidneys. They really studied the vessels.

Then Greece caught on with how our body worked. The Egyptians weren't scientists by any means. When you start looking at when scientists started their search, you will find that the Greece scientists were among the first. Hippocrates really did extensive studies. This has helped us learn about the musculoskeletal structure of the body.
Galen was another scientist that made some heavy discoveries about the body. He dates back to the second century. He is the first one to do dissection on animals and is said to give us much of the knowledge that we have on the different organs of the body.
Even during the medieval time, the Christian scientists were studying the body. During this time then, they seized the studies and Muslims took over. Many of the things we know about the body that we didn't learn early on from the Greeks or Egyptians we have learned from the Muslims.
It wasn't until the 17th and 18th century that we really took hold and started learning all that we could about human anatomy and physiology. The reason that this became so was because the printing press was created during this time. Many wanted to find out more about the human body and educate people about it. There came a need for cadavers to dissect on and learn all that we could. It wasn't until the 19th century that the final conclusions about the body were made and text books were created and were pretty much right on the dot with what they taught.
It's neat to know that human anatomy and physiology doesn't end there. It continues on to this day and age. Just when we think we know it all about our body, we are amazed to know that we are just skimming the surface. With so many diseases and parts of the body not yet unearthed, science and the study of human anatomy and physiology remains strong. This downloadable course is very informative.

There are some students out there that can't get in to take the courses that they need. Whether it be that you can't find the time to make it on campus or you have a tight load as it is, there is one way you can take it without stepping into a classroom. This would be to take a human anatomy and physiology online course. However, while some like this. Some people don't. Here are the advantages as well as the disadvantages to this.

The first advantage would be as we described early on. The reason would be some people have too many courses that overlap and the class isn't offered at a time when they could go to take it on campus. Sometimes, they might offer it through another college, but for many, it's just easier to take it online.
Another reason might go to take it online is that they would do better with the reading and the understanding when they study alone. There are so many ways that people go about learning about the body that sometimes when we are in a class and are trying to learn from a professor, we can't use what works well for us. Therefore, when we work alone, this allows us to do study in such a manner.
However, while some love this, some hate it for these reasons. There are many who find that the tests might be a bit harder. When you are trying to find what a test question is regarding to, you might find that the paper or the screen doesn't display it well enough. With this being the case, many get test questions wrong since they aren't sure what it's pointing to or addressing.
Some find that by reading, they don't understand enough about how particular parts of the body work. Our bodies are very complex. Some can only understand how it works and so forth when they have a vivid diagram explaining it and they find that because they are online taking the course, they don't have enough resources to talk to the professor teaching the class. So, therefore, their question never really gets answered.
This can hinder how well a person does in this course online. It can be a help as well as a hindrance all at the same time. That is why many don't offer this course online or if they know a person can't handle it, they will be truthful at how hard it can be. It's all based on the person taking the class.
